Twice Around: Songs
Sometimes Your Love ((lyrics))
Frank: Just a basic ‘not sad’ love song. We should all have one. Was written around 1989, and I decided to resurrect it as I’ve always had a fondness for it. The Beatles influence is all over this one. The relaxed feeling of the song comes from a style of playing I developed in my teens, as I tried to play quietly through all hours of the night. For a while, all my songs sounded like this. The nylon string guitar on this track is Luisa’s 1960 Martin Classical 00-28G, which used to belong to her Grandfather. It was a real honor and a treat to play such a beautiful instrument.
Luisa: This is indeed the only “happy” love song in the bunch. He says “not sad”, I say “happy”. These are the creative differences that keep things interesting for us, isn’t that right Frankie? Or “not wrong” maybe?
Lyrics
My day isn't throughUntil I open up my arms and take hold of you Long is the nightUntil you take me in your arms and you hold me tightSometimes you gentle smile is all I need I'm not the sameSomeone has stole away my heart and baby you're to blameWhat can I doExcept to open up my arms and take hold of youSometimes your gentle touch is all I need Some night you may need a shoulder to cry onCome lay your head down next to mine'Cause my heart is one that you can rely on darlingSo close your eyes. I'll make it right Some night when I need a shoulder to cry onCome lay your head down next to mine'Cause your heart is one I've come to rely on darlingSo close your eyes. And make it right My day isn't throughUntil I open up my arms and take hold of youWarm is the nightWhen you take me in your arms and you hold me tightSometimes your love is all I need
